LULU

Lulu (aka: Louuuu) is a big ole lug of a dog. She loves to be around other dogs when they are outside the home, but has had several issues with one of the dogs she is currently living with in the home. So, being an only dog will probably be the best thing for her.

She loves to play fetch in the park, backyard, or even in the house (if it's allowed). She is a sweetheart of a dog who loves hanging out with people. Especially, if you will pet, toss the toy, have treats, or will sit on the couch with her (great lumbar support). She is housebroken and knows how to use the doggie door when she wants or needs to go outside. Knows sit, shake, hold it/stay, and will jump up for a treat when saying "get it". Good on a leash, but fetch is much preferred over long walks. She is also a very good traveler in the car, and will sleep in her crate (door opened or closed).

Her past is a mystery as her previous owner suddenly passed, she had no place to go, her current foster family answered the NextDoor notice, and took her in.

ODIN

Meet Odin

Are you looking for a one of kind soulmate to love and cuddle? Odin is a 3yr old friendly, playful, and smart dog who enjoys spending time with people. He's a loyal companion who loves to go on walks, hiking, the beach, and all sorts of outdoor adventures. He plays a mean game of tug and fetch! He is potty trained and has been through training (can sit, stay, place, and is a great on a leash). We are still working on recall to bring balls back and is best not off leash. While Odin is active and the quintessential outdoor buddy, he also likes to sleep on the couch while you curl up to read a book or watch television – he just might snore. Odin needs to have a one-dog home. Sadly, the home he is in has two other dogs and he developed an aggression towards one of the dogs making it impossible for him to continue staying in the home. The house also has a cat and Odin pretty much leaves him alone. He has not been exposed to kids much so would recommend a home without small ones. But a teenage boy is right up his alley! Will you help Odie Boy find his forever home?

Auggie

Hi, I’m Auggie - a 7 year old brindle mix. I’m a sweet and goofy boy at heart - I just need slow intros to new people, I like to take my time getting to know you. With a little patience and kindness, I’ll slowly open up and show you just how affectionate I can be!

What My Friends Say About Me:

•I’m housebroken and crate trained, but I’m looking for you to provide me the love, structure, and comfort I need to settle right into your family.

•I love going for a hike (I’m great on a leash) and being outside rain or shine

•I may be big, but I’m also gentle when I’m comfortable with my people. I’ve got a soft spot for quiet moments where we can just relax and enjoy each other’s company.

The Type of Home I’m Looking For:

•I’ll be honest—I prefer to be the only pet in my kingdom. But with the right dog, I would love a companion, but I can be picky because I get overwhelmed easily and I don’t like to share food.

•I’m looking for a home where I can continue to receive positive reinforcement training to help me learn and grow.

•I do have a quirk—I can be protective of my food & treats, so I’d appreciate a home where I can have some space and my own special things.

•I’d do best in a home without children because I need calmness and I spook easily when I’m resting.

I would love to meet you and see if I might be your perfect pup companion. I’m currently in SE Portland, but would be able to travel a reasonable distance for a home that would be the right fit.

Please call or text Jessie at 716.868.9118 if you’re interested in hearing more about Auggie

ZANE

This is Zane he is a pit mix, age about 7-8, he is male and neutered. He averages from 65-75lbs usually right now I believe he is about 65.

He does have some medical needs including ear infections due to allergies and skin allergies. He can be very energetic at times but is mostly a chill dog. He is alert at all times and lets you know when people are around but responds to commands well. He did have a training class but due to unfortunate matters some of his commands weren’t practiced enough so he doesn’t listen right away. He is crate/potty trained. He loves to be loved. He loves everyone! He also loves food! He manners aren’t so good he used to be really bad about stealing food out of peoples hands but now he usually will wait for you to leave it or turn away so definitely needs work on that he used to wear a collar that helped him a lot with those things but because of the owners situation a lot of things were lost. He doesn’t like other dogs, Zane was attacked at a dog park and he has leash aggression. He had a house mate (dog) that was older and bigger than him and they got along really well but he passed away. Sometimes cats are okay but everyone in awhile he will chase them and I worry about that. He is a scaredy cat and has a big bark to protect him.

Náhtiyá

Sweet, silly, timid pup STILL looking for her forever home! LOVES other dogs!

Currently in the Portland/Vancouver area.

Náhtiyá was rescued off the streets in Texas last fall & medically rehabilitated at the humane society. She’s been through several homes that didn’t have patience for her timidness.

Since being in her current placement, Náhtiyá has shown improvement in confidence & conquering her fears. She’ll be an amazing companion for someone with the patience & ability to keep supporting her.

About Náhtiyá:

- Age: approx 17 mo

- Breed: shepherd mix (w/ a little Lab, Australian cattledog, & a handful of other breeds!)

- Medical needs: daily medication for anxiety, easily taken in pill pocket.

- Spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

- Personality: fearful & timid at first, but once she warms up she’s very smart, sweet, loyal, cuddly, & super silly.

- Likes: being around other dogs, chasing a ball (she can throw one for herself!), peanut butter.

- Dislikes: loud noises, big sudden movements, surprises (retreats/hides).

Curious about cats, tries to play with them. Supervision & boundaries recommended.

Hasn’t spent much time around kids.

Her ideal home would be a quiet, calm home outside of the city or at least in a quiet suburb, w/ a fenced yard. With someone who is patient and kind, ideally experienced with fearful dogs, home most of the time, & committed to doing the work to help her build confidence at her pace. Ideally they would already have a confident adult dog in the home, as that makes a huge difference for her.

She’s currently w/ a human who stepped in to prevent her from going back to the shelter again & experiencing another abandonment trauma, but they aren’t able to be her forever home.

They’ve been serving the function of a private “foster” but without the support of a rescue/shelter, making it challenging to get her seen by enough potential adopters.

Contact via IG @teamnahtiya or text 425-283-7855 or email teamnahtiya@outlook.com .

Even if you can’t be her forever family, someone you know could be! Please help by sharing her IG posts! @teamnahtiya

Hendrix

Hendrix is seeking is FOREVER home. This poor angel boy has been through it.

Lab/Shepherd. Male. 3-4 years old. 75lbs. Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. House trained, crate trained. No Cats!

Hendrix was originally rescued from a high kill shelter in southern CA in 2021.

We fostered him for several months before a rescue found him an adopter.

Unfortunately in august I received a call that Hendrix had been picked up by animal control in rural Alabama. Halfway across the country from where is he was supposed to be. After several failed attempts by myself and local authorities to locate the adopters I started working on a plan to get him back to the west coast.

Hendrix stayed a sanctuary for a month while things were figured out. Now he is back with me as a foster.

He is an incredible dog. If I had was able to keep another dog I would just keep him. But sadly I am already at my limit.

Hendrix LOVES fetch. Especially in the water. He loves to swim. He knows “find it” if the ball is lost and he WILL find it. He was almost accepted into a search and rescue program in 2022. He loves hiking and going for runs in the morning. He’s an awesome camping and adventure buddy.

Hendrix loves people and playing with other dogs. He can play rough with dog friends but takes corrections from other dogs well.

He is a gentle giant with humans. He plays gently and knows “leave it” and “go away” for when play time is over. He is good with children, but would do best in a home with kids over ten due to his size and playfulness. He may unintentionally injure a small child by knocking them down.

Hendrix is extremely well trained at home. He is 8/10 on a leash.

He listens well. He knows sit, lay down, in your house (crate), leave it, out(leave whatever you’re messing with alone), place, hut (stop and come back), stay/wait, let’s go(keep walking), and all of the noises I make to get him to knock something off.

He sits for his food, he sits for his leash, and he sits and waits for the door. He won’t eat your dinner if you leave the room and tell him to leave it.

Hendrix’s only issue is his leash reactivity with other dogs. It’s getting steadily better but I am hoping with a solid home we can really turn it around. He was excited by other dogs on the leash when we were fostering him but when we got him back he had developed reactivity to other dogs on leash. He still loves to play with other dogs in the yard or at day care. But on a leash he is nervous. He must have had a negative experience with his prior family on a leash.

His leash reactivity is NOT the worst I’ve seen by far. But he is a big dog which can be intimidating for some.

If you can manage to pass the other dogs quickly, with a fair amount of space, all is well.

He is extremely ball/toy motivated and food motivated.

He is very easy to train, but he will need someone confident and committed to maintaining and managing his training.

I want him to be successful in his new home.

I am a shelter behaviorist, trainer and am working toward my national trainer certification. I am willing to work with Hendrix and his adopters on behavioral needs for the remainder of his life, free of charge.

Due to Hendrix’s chaotic past and size, I am looking for someone who has a home with a yard. Hendrix would do great with another friendly dog at home. But would also love to be your whole world.

I am looking for someone who has experience with large breed dogs and someone who is confident with their dog knowledge and skills. I am also looking for someone who is committed to taking this dog in for life. He has bounced around enough and he’s too cool of a dog for that nonsense.

Hendrix is an amazing and special boy and he deserves the best home. He has been through so much and remains kind and gentle and oh so loving.

He would make an amazing emotional support dog. He’s so incredibly smart and sweet.

Please send me a message if you are interested in meeting Hendrix and we can discuss the adoption process.

I am able to adopt him out anywhere in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Northern California, Northern Nevada, and southern British Columbia.

Thank you!

Chorty

Meet Snorty Chorty!

I work over 40 hours a week and just started grad school. I am not in a place to take on a dog.

I have had this guy for 2 weeks. It’s a long story. My neighbors abandoned this dog after getting kicked out. They left him alone with no food, water or bed and he broke out of the yard. I happened to see and brought him to my yard.

He is very sweet. He’s not purposely aggressive towards humans at all.  He can get a little too eager nipping during play or jumping on people. He has some bigger behavioral challenges due to the owners being being neglectful and traumatic to him.

I named him Chortles aka Chorty.

Im not sure anything about him medically. He is about 62 pounds and not neutered.

Guessing he is around 2-4 years old? But totally unsure.

I’m going to be very picky about where he ends up.

He must have someone willing to train, exercise and give him proper attention. 95% of his behavioral issues are due to him wanting attention and probably not being fixed. I just started grad school and I don’t have the capacity to add a dog who needs more support than I can offer.

His behaviors I’ve seen are jumping on people for attention. Jumping on people is his biggest problem behavior because it’s really hard not to give him attention when he jumps and he does it constantly when he is excited. He is not intentionally aggressive but his excited jumping is a lot because he is 60 pounds and doing it a lot. I’ve been working with him by giving as little of attention for the unwanted behaviors and praising him when he is appropriately wanting attention, he still needs A LOT of support though.

He needs lots of toys and things to do. If he doesn’t have stuff to chew up, he will seek out things to chew. He’s chewed a couple shoes.

Hes went to the bathroom in the house 3 times total in 2 weeks since he’s been here. Twice might have been my fault cause I didn’t let him out long enough after he ate, but he still did it.

He met one dog and aggressively nipped at him multiple times and bit at his neck, so he will need work on animal socialization as well. I’m pretty sure they were studding him out because they had a female pit who definitely had been pregnant a couple times. They had even kept the 2 of them separate so I really feel like he should be the only animal in the house until he has more training on his own first.

Not sure about cats but I wouldn’t risk it at this point. I think he would do best being the only animal in the house.

He is really smart and when I give him the attention, training, and exercise he needs, he does really awesome.

He has learned to “wait” already and also to sit and not lick before he gets pets. He knows these things but still struggle to do them all the time.

He is a sweet dog and very attached to his human but loves human attention in general.

he was living in the backyard in a kennel so he does well outside while I’m at work during the day as long as he has a Covered space with a bed, something to chew on and warmth to lay on.

I think he would be great on a farm or big yard to run in and exert all his excess energy out!

Cinder

Cinder is up to date on vaccines and is spayed. She is about 1-3 years old and about 60 lbs. She is crate trained, learning to walk nicely on leash, and does amazing on car rides. Cinder would be fine living with or without another dog in the home, but does not want to live with any other pets. She is an active dog who still has her puppy energy and is looking for a forever home that is committed to continuing her training and exercise so she can become the best version of herself!!

if you're interested in adopting Cinder, the first step to adoption will be to fill out an adoption application through the link below:

Hollee

This is Hollee. She is a 3 year old Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd mix. Hollee and her owner are former dog training clients of mine.

She is a delightful girl, but the dynamics are not working in her current home. Her owner has tried very hard to make it work.  She is very social and loves other dogs, but should live with a male dog.

The best home for her would be an active home that also does sports like Nosework or Barnhunt. I think she could easily do agility, but not sure that is the right fit for her temperament and would not necessarily bring out the best in her. She will benefit from a strong routine and behavioral expectations. She will do best with an experienced dog person or trainer.

Carter

Meet Carter, our charming 9-year-old Whippet Boxer Mix! Carter is the perfect blend of adventure and affection. He’s always ready for a walk and loves exploring the great outdoors, but he’s just as happy snuggling on the couch after a fun day. Though Carter can be a bit anxious at first, his sweet nature shines through once he gets to know you. He’s great with kids and cats, making him a wonderful family companion. If you’re looking for a loyal friend who will be both your walking buddy and couch buddy, Carter is your guy! For more information, contact Mike at 503-936-9808.

Pua

Meet Pua, a sweet 2-year-old English Bulldog who has a heart full of love. Pua is incredibly cuddly and playful, and her favorite thing to do is play tug-of-war followed by some cozy snuggle time. She’s house trained and knows basic commands, but she does pull on the leash, so she could use a little training in that area. Pua gets along well with kids and adults, and once she meets other dogs, she loves to play with them too! I truly believe she would bring so much joy to a loving home. She is a sweet companion who’s always up for fun, and she deserves all the love and attention in the world.

I will be including a crate for her, her pillow, some toys and food, and her sweaters.

Charlie & Eska

Hello! We are Charlie and Eska, a bonded pair of deeply loving brothers!! Charlie (the black) is 13 years old, and Eska (the brown/tan) is 11. We think they are some sort of Chihuahua and Dockson mix and are about 10-12 lbs each. They have spent their entire lives together and are inseparable. They grew up in a loving home until their mother (my friend's grandmother) passed away unexpectedly last year, and no one in the family could take them. They have been living with my boyfriend and me as fosters since. We would like them to stay together as they are closely bonded and manage their quirky anxiety together so well! They are well-behaved and friendly but can become shy and nervous around new people and places. They will likely hang out mostly in their crate/home until comfortable. We are not asking for a re-homing fee but are particular about finding the right home for them. They need an excellent owner to love on them and is available to spend quality at-home time with them. They will come with their harnesses, dog bowls, crate, and 12 months of diamond naturals food. They are fixed, and we are confident they're vaccinated. Still, their vaccination status is unknown, and we are trying to track down some details with their former family members. They are crate-trained to an extent and are housebroken. These two are adorable and well-mannered dogs, shy around new people, places, and other pets, but they get along well with everyone. They do not, however, enjoy being picked up by surprise suddenly. These senior dogs would make excellent companions!

LaLoyd

7 months old
neutered male, up to date with shots
Pit Bull Mix
Rehome Fee: $300

Forgive my wiggling butt, I'm just so excited to meet a new friend! My name is LaLoyd and I'm 7 months old. I know it's hard to believe that the handsome puppers with ears for years that stands before you is the same lost and injured puppy my foster family saved from the busy road 5 months ago. It seems like a lifetime ago when I was hungry, battered and broken, with not a friend in the world. My foster friends saw me get hit on the road by a car and rushed me to the doctor where I was fixed up properly. Since then, I've healed and grown and learned so much at puppy social school. I've made so many friends and I'm eager to meet more!

I'm learning my manners when meeting with new people and dogs, even cats! I sleep in my own crate and I'm nearly fully potty trained. What I would really love is to adopt a family who lives in a house with a yard and maybe even an older dog sister to play with, as long as she doesn't mind sharing her toys. Because food was scarce before I came to my foster home, I still get worried about someone taking my food and toys sometimes so I would do best in a home with no young children. My foster home is in a busy area and sometimes that stresses me out. I am still a little weary of loud cars, fast bicycles and barking dogs. That's why I am looking for a family who lives in a quieter neighborhood. I like dog savvy cats, but I admit, I could be tempted to chase one that runs.

I love learning and would love to adopt a person who is willing to take me to a positive training class to continue my studies. My foster mum is retired but has been working on helping me feel comfortable when I'm home alone and I am able to stay home alone for 4 hours at a time already! It helps me a lot that she has a predictable schedule and I'm looking for that in my forever home. While I love playing with other dogs, I can get overwhelmed and overly excited still so I'm not a dog park dog. I prefer playing in smaller groups with guidance from my handlers so I can continue to develop good doggy manners.

I even have a personal tutor, who comes to my house to help make sure I'm learning all the things I need to be healthy and happy as I grow. She is going to be the one helping me find my forever home and will be able to support whatever family I adopt too! If you have any questions or think you might like me to adopt you, please email Denise at denise.behave@gmail.com

HERCULES

He’s a muscley chonker of a sweet heart who in typical Velcro Pittie fashion, just wants to be with his person and cuddle. He was found on the streets of Downey by my partner’s brother, escaped euthanasia, and after two months of trying to work with a rescue (they’re all so inundated atm!) we’ve taken it into our own hands and found a temporary foster in Portland for him. He would do best in a home with someone who has a bit of experience with dogs and has the patience and time to work with him on early signs of separation anxiety. He could be the only dog, or go to a home with another dog of similar strength and an owner that once again, will take the time to integrate the dogs slowly and safely. He loves dogs, but is a big strong male and we want to make sure that it is a good fit for all.

-pittie mix

2-3 years old

-59lb - sweet as could be -loves people, and is good with older kids who understand dogs and boundaries. -has his neuter appointment for 4/4 -needs one last shot we’re working on, then up to date! - NO CATS

-reactive to small critters such as crows and squirrels -seemingly crate trained

BUSBY

Hi, do you like cuddles? I like cuddles. If you love a big old dog who thinks he’s a lap dog, then busby is your dog. Lots of energy for being a larger and older dog but loves early morning and late night walks. I’m a very strong dog so please know that. I have a lot of separation anxiety which is great for you if you work from home so we can cuddle all the time. I like to roll in the grass in a nice open yard but not at dog parks. I don’t like other large dogs especially in my yard. Small dogs that don’t growl are cool and so are cats. I LOVE KIDS MORE THAN WALKS!!

BLUE

Hello my name is BLUE I am an almost 3 year old border collie Aussie mix. I am neutered and no all my basic commands very well.i am crate trained even tho i dont like it.  I am also muzzle trained I am full of energy and love my people. Almost as much as my people love me that’s why it has taken my mom this long to write this she loves me so much she’s been lying to her self about being able to give me the life I deserve . I have a lot of energy and am very pray driven.  I love kids but I am very protective of my kids and I don’t like when there friends chase them or play nurf guns so I need a home that has older kids like 13 or adult only household . I also get a long with other dogs I’m used to but it takes a while for me to warm up a trust other dogs.  I would do best being the only dog. I can NOT LIVE WITH CATS . I have never hurt one but I chase them an hold them down with my paws . Some of my fav things to do are talking to you.. going on hikes and runs playing ball and cuddling up for movies I will sit in your lap like a person to get chest rubs. I have been working on my confidence for a while now and  have 3 other fur brothers but I need to be the only dog….. because I get jealous easy. If your looking for a funny protective cuddle best friend I may just be it I have corks but am very smart and with the right family could be the perfect dog .

THOR

Meet Thor!

Age: 11 months

Breed: Pit/lab mix

Need to rehome good boy. We have a young (about a year old) pit mix that needs a new home. He is a very good boy, good with kids and dogs (we don’t know about cats). He could probably jump a fence but never has, and he has always played very well with our old dog. He is on a grain-free diet , knows basic commands, and crate trained. Thor is still intact but has vaccines.

He needs a home that will give him the attention and care he deserves, and that just isn’t our home. We have an infant and a toddler and just no room for this guy. I do recommend bigger kids being he is still a puppy, although he does do very well with small kids so far.

Thor seems to learn pretty quickly, and is eager to please. He does cry when you leave, but settles down after a few minutes. He is genuinely a good dog, we just cannot provide him with the attention that he needs. We have an old dog that had a mass removed and Thor is just too much puppy for the old boy now and has had to be kept separated, which just isn’t fair to him.

We will send his crate and food dish along with him and we ask that you donate $50 to the shelter as the rehoming fee.
