Sweet, silly, timid pup STILL looking for her forever home! LOVES other dogs!
Currently in the Portland/Vancouver area.
Náhtiyá was rescued off the streets in Texas last fall & medically rehabilitated at the humane society. She’s been through several homes that didn’t have patience for her timidness.
Since being in her current placement, Náhtiyá has shown improvement in confidence & conquering her fears. She’ll be an amazing companion for someone with the patience & ability to keep supporting her.
About Náhtiyá:
- Age: approx 17 mo
- Breed: shepherd mix (w/ a little Lab, Australian cattledog, & a handful of other breeds!)
- Medical needs: daily medication for anxiety, easily taken in pill pocket.
- Spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
- Personality: fearful & timid at first, but once she warms up she’s very smart, sweet, loyal, cuddly, & super silly.
- Likes: being around other dogs, chasing a ball (she can throw one for herself!), peanut butter.
- Dislikes: loud noises, big sudden movements, surprises (retreats/hides).
Curious about cats, tries to play with them. Supervision & boundaries recommended.
Hasn’t spent much time around kids.
Her ideal home would be a quiet, calm home outside of the city or at least in a quiet suburb, w/ a fenced yard. With someone who is patient and kind, ideally experienced with fearful dogs, home most of the time, & committed to doing the work to help her build confidence at her pace. Ideally they would already have a confident adult dog in the home, as that makes a huge difference for her.
She’s currently w/ a human who stepped in to prevent her from going back to the shelter again & experiencing another abandonment trauma, but they aren’t able to be her forever home.
They’ve been serving the function of a private “foster” but without the support of a rescue/shelter, making it challenging to get her seen by enough potential adopters.
