Max

Max is a 6 year old, 14-pound, Schnauzer Yorkie male dog from SE Portland.

He is the sweetest companion that loves to snuggle, play and go in adventures with his humans.

Max is in good health and has been fixed. He is crate trained and well adapted to human’s societal rules of doing his business outside. He enjoys his kibble, snacks and occasional carrot parties. As he is food motivated, we’ve been able to train him in most basic commands and he understands “sit”, “down”, “stay”, “roll over”, “go to your bed”, “off”, “leave it”, “paw”, “potty” etc.

He is smart, very friendly and very curious of other dogs and animals, and loves to meet new humans. He is also a great communicator.

As we had Max since he was a puppy, we know his personality and quirks and know that he will thrive in a home with no other pets or kids that would compete for attention. (We do not know how he does with cats as he has not been around them. He’s been around other dogs and plays well and nicely).

He will be best suited for a single person or couple that would love to spoil him, take him on walks and hikes and share some snacks here and there. Someone with the ability to take Max to work, or that works for home would be ideal. Prior full time experience with caring for a dog is a must.

Max is well adapted to spending time alone at home and seem to prefer sleeping in his own bed/crate. He will demonstrate some anxiety if spending the night in new environments, even with his family, but as long as you are there with him, he will be ok. He also demonstrates over excitement when riding in cars, mostly due to the anticipation with arrival and uncertainty of where he is going.

Max does have a voice and will bark excitedly at other dogs when on a walk. He is not aggressive, just very curious and wanting to play.

We believe that some of these behaviors can be curbed with more exercise, mental stimulation and constant exposure.
